YOUR Renegades Season Review

The 2025–26 season saw YOUR Renegades earn a playoff berth in a competitive South Division, finishing the regular season at 21-20-1 with 43 points. In a division led by Northumberland and Durham, North York held its ground, secured key wins down the stretch, and positioned itself for another postseason run.

Across 42 regular season games, YOUR Renegades scored 148 goals and remained competitive in nearly every matchup. The power play converted at 16.9 percent, while the penalty kill operated at 84.0 percent, reflecting a team that stayed structured and effective in special teams situations.

Our group showed offensive depth throughout the lineup and consistently responded after tough stretches, finishing the regular season with momentum heading into the playoffs.

Eric Stephenson delivered one of the strongest seasons by a defenceman in franchise history, posting 63 points in 41 games, including 22 goals and 41 assists. Kristian Sevostyanov added 58 points and remained a consistent offensive driver. Tamerlan Kamalov recorded 36 points in 35 games, while Evan Gupta contributed 35 points and 32 assists. Timely scoring from Austin Roberts and Oliver Koch added balance when games tightened late in the season.

Individual performance translated into league recognition. Stephenson was named South Division Best Defenceman and received the Heart Award. Vladimir Vovchuk earned South Division Best Goalie honours, and Head Coach Mario Cicchillo was recognized as Second Runner Up for South Division Best Coach.

The first-round playoff matchup against St. George became the only South Division series to go the distance.

After a Game 2 win at home forced a deciding third game, YOUR Renegades pushed the series to the final night. Koch scored on the power play in Game 3, and Vovchuk stopped 99 of 114 shots across the series, but the season ended in heartbreak against the Ravens.

The 2025–26 season produced tangible results: A playoff berth, individual league honours, and one of the most productive offensive campaigns by a defenceman in franchise history. Our team competed in a demanding division, responded under pressure, and gained valuable experience in a decisive playoff series.

While the season ended earlier than intended, the performance level and recognition earned this year establish a clear benchmark for the franchise. The returning core understands how narrow the margins are in playoff hockey and what is required to take the next step in a real run for the Russell Cup.

YOUR Renegades move forward with experience gained, standards reinforced, and a clear target for next season. See you soon!
