YOUR Renegades are excited to welcome forward Mario Medaglia to the organization after selecting him in the second roundof the 2026 GMHL Draft.

Medaglia arrives in North York following a successful minor hockey career that began at just three years old.

“I played for the Vaughan Rangers before joining the GTHL,” said Medaglia. “I later moved to the Greater Toronto Capitals from U10 to U14. Just before COVID, I joined the Duffield Devils and played there for most of my minor hockey career. In my final year of U18, I had the opportunity to play for the Toronto Red Wings AAA.”

A forward who prides himself on being reliable in all three zones, Medaglia describes himself as a complete player who uses his hockey IQ to impact the game in multiple ways.

“I’m a 200-foot player that uses hockey IQ to my advantage,” he said. “I work hard, lay big hits in the defensive zone, and I’m also a faceoff specialist.”

As he prepares for his first season of junior hockey, Medaglia has already identified what he wants to work on this season under Renegades coach Mario Cicchillo.

“The area of my game I’m most focused on improving is keeping my confidence up and not letting the little things get to me,” Medaglia said.

The opportunity to begin a new chapter with YOUR Renegades is something that has him eager to get started.

“What excites me most about joining the Renegades is having a brand-new start and getting points with the squad,” Medaglia said.

Like many young players making the jump to junior hockey, Medaglia has set ambitious goals for himself. He hopes to become a point-per-game player while making a significant impact every time he steps on the ice.

Looking further ahead, his goals extend well beyond the upcoming season.

“My long-term hockey goal is to play at the (post-secondary) school level and eventually go pro in the sport I love,” Medaglia said.
