GMHL Offering Officiating Program For Graduated Players
The GMHL has adopted a “New Program” which offers officiating opportunities to all presently aged out athletes and past alumni who want to remain in the sport.
The league has experienced a positive response from a test-bed initiative within social media, which has attracted interested applicants.
This “New Program” will assist the league’s progressive growth for resources to ensure we continue to develop youthful officials for a strong future.
The Training & Development Department has designed an on-ice mentorship module supported by a supervision component for new officials with competitive hockey backgrounds.
This will include designated senior officials who will participate in the development of aged out athletes. This transition from player to official will begin at the linesman level with the potential to transition into referee opportunities as the new official grows in officiating ability.
The league welcomes your participation in communicating this “New Program” to all players of age.
Veteran athletes are invited to contact Kevin Thompson and Al Zimmer at the following email addresses: kevinthompson@gmhlofficials.com alzimmer@gmhlofficials.com
