Owner Richard Whitlock’s commitment to hockey runs deep, shaped by his own playing experience, years of supporting his sons’ minor hockey careers, and now by watching his son, Cameron, play for YOUR Renegades.

Whitlock has always been passionate about the game, drawn to both the skill it requires and the community it creates.

“I love the skill level it takes to be a hockey player,” Whitlock said. “I am just in awe over the coordination and skill set these kids show. Hockey is a community and offers the best place too grow as an athlete.”

For him, supporting YOUR Renegades was a natural fit given the program’s strong reputation for providing a positive environment where players can grow and thrive. He has entrusted the club to help develop his own son, Cameron, a forward who was born in 2009.

“The Renegades have a strong reputation as an excellent organization that really cares about its players,” Whitlock said. “It starts at the top with the owner (Joey Gagne) right down to Coach Mario, who has been a customer at Transmission Depot.”

Outside the rink, Whitlock’s story is just as inspiring.

A member of the Canadian taekwondo team when the sport was showcased at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, he represented his country at the highest level of competition. His wife, Sharon Grandison, was a U SPORTS Second-Team All-Canadian as a sprinter at York University.

That same drive he showed in taekwondo carried into his professional life, where he began as an employee at transmission shop before working his way up to become owner of Transmission Depot.
