Renegades assistant coach moving on
YOUR Renegades are extremely proud of all of the players that have pulled on our uniform over the years and there is nothing we like more than to celebrate their success.
As hard as it to say goodbye, we are thrilled to announce Vinu Varadarasa has accepted a position as an assistant coach with the Welland Jr. Canadians in the GOJHL.
“I want thank (Renegades team president) Joey Gagne, if it wasn’t for him giving me a chance to coach I wouldn’t be here thank you for everything you have done for me,” said Varadarasa, who started as a player with the organization. “Thank you (coach) Darryl (Lloyd) for taking me under your wing. I will always be grateful for the opportunity these two gentleman gave me.
“I would like to thank Alex Lepore also, as he taught me a lot about breaking down team systems and shown me other little tricks. Albert, thank you for being an amazing goalie coach and being a fun coach to be alongside the past two years.”
Varadarasa said he is going to miss being part of the close-knit staff.
“The Renegades treated every coach as family and provided an environment where we were not scared to share our opinions,” said Varadarasa, who had an 102-18-2 record as a player and coach with the organization. “That’s what made us become a powerhouse in the South Conference.”
While winning the South Division title and going to Temiscaming for the GMHL National Championships in 2023 is his fondest memory with the team, Varadarasa enjoyed all of his time with the organization.
Varadarasa was a huge part of that success!
Congrats Vinny on your new position! We will continue to watch your career unfold. You will always be #unitedinred
