Renegades Restock Roster in 2025 GMHL Draft

YOUR Renegades used the 2025 GMHL Draft to select a deep and diverse class of players from across Canada and beyond. With 12 total picks — including an additional selection in the 8th round via a trade with Durham — the Renegades’ front office, led by GM and head coach Darryl Lloyd strategically blended experience, youth, and grit to reinforce their roster.

Round 1 – Tristan Weill (2004, West Kelowna, BC)

With their first pick, YOUR Renegades grabbed a high-impact forward in Tristan Weill with the 12th overall pick.  Weill is a skilled player from the Kimberley Dynamiters of the KIJHL.

Round 2  – Damir Cherniavskii (2009, Russia)

In a bold move, North York looked to the future, drafting Russian standout Damir Cherniavskii from the Reps Hockey Club U16 AAA of the GTHL. Despite his young age, Cherniavskii has displayed elite skating and playmaking ability, making him a long-term investment for YOUR Renegades with sky-high potential.

Round 3  – Djorkaeff “Kiki” Brown (2004, Mississauga)

“Kiki” Brown brings high-level junior experience from the CCHL’s Navan Grads. YOUR Renegades are banking on Brown’s ability to make an immediate impact at both ends of the ice.

Round 4  – Felix St. Onge (2006, Sudbury)

From the SIJHL’s Ironwood Lumberjacks, defenceman Felix St. Onge adds stability and size to the Renegades’ blue line.

Round 5 – Walty Pederson (2005, Lantzville, BC)

North York selected Brown’s teammate Walty Pederson, a gritty forward with a high motor and strong two-way game, from the CCHL’s Navan Grads

Round 6  – Lucas Line (2006, London)

A smooth-skating defenseman from the GOJHL’s Welland Jr. Canadians, Lucas Line brings mobility and offensive upside.

Round 7 – Brett Connors (2008, Antigonish, NS)

North York added a physical  defenseman in Brett Connors from the Cape Breton Jets U16 AAA.

Round 8  – Rian Meisner (2004, Oakville)

Acquired via trade with Durham, this pick turned into a steal. Meisner, formerly with the OJHL’s Mississauga Chargers, is   veteran presence that could stabilize YOUR Renegades’ forward mix.

Round 8  – Darius Chanderpaul (2007, Ajax)

Coming out of the Ajax Knights U18 AA program, Chanderpaul is a raw but intriguing talent and a potential late-round gem with development.

Round 9  – Uilliam Noll (2009, North Bay)

A solid two-way defenseman from the North Bay Trappers U16 AAA, Noll has impressed with his maturity and decision-making.

Round 10 – Ethan Girard (2005, Whitby)

From the GOJHL’s Hamilton Kilty B’s, Girard is a steady presence on the back end. Girard, who was selected in the OHL draft by the North Bay Battalion, has played in the OJHL, GOJHL and CCHL since graduating from minor hockey.

Round 11  – Lucas Lombardi (2009, Etobicoke)

A defenceman from the Mississauga Beast U16 AA is yet another pick to help rebuild YOUR Renegades back end.

Round 12 – Quinton Kakabat (2008, Quebec)

Closing out the draft, North York went  Kakabat out of the CIHA Voyageurs U18 Prep program.

With this mix of seasoned junior players and young talent, YOUR Renegades are hoping to generate both short and long-term success.

“This group reflects the identity we’re building in North York — fast, tough, and driven,” coach Lloyd said. “We can’t wait to get them on the ice.”

Expect YOUR Renegades to once again make noise this season — this draft may have just set the stage for their next big chapter.
