YOUR Renegades Name Leadership Group
As the new hockey season gets underway, YOUR Renegades of the Greater Metro Junior ‘A’ Hockey League (GMHL) have made a significant announcement regarding their team leadership. The Renegades have officially named their captain and assistant captains for the upcoming season. These players have been selected based on their skills, experience, and their ability to lead both on and off the ice.
“We are extremely comfortable with our new leadership group,” Renegades coach and GM Darryl Lloyd said. “These are experienced players that know what it takes to win. They are popular players and the younger guys look to them to help set the tone on the ice and in the dressing room.”
Leading the North York Renegades as their captain is Jedi Somersall. This marks Somersall’s third season with the team, and his experience has made him a natural choice for team captain. Last season, he played a pivotal role in helping the Renegades become GMHL South Champions. Jedi is known for bringing a blend of speed and physicality to the games, making him an impactful presence on the ice.
Christopher Rende, a three-season veteran with the Renegades, has been named an assistant captain. Rende is widely regarded as one of the best forwards in the league, thanks to his tremendous skill and scoring ability. His consistent point production speaks for itself, and his presence on the ice is a formidable asset to the team. Rende is also excellent in penalty-killing situations, making him a well-rounded player with a significant impact on both ends of the ice.
With five seasons under his belt as a Renegade, Nikolai Salov has been chosen as an assistant captain. One of the fastest player in the league, Salov’s speed and agility, combined with his strong defensive capabilities, make him an all-around player. His prowess as a penalty-killer is further emphasized by his impressive 14 shorthanded goals last season, which is a testament to his unique skill set and leadership abilities.
Joe Martino brings invaluable Junior ‘A’ experience to North Yorks, having played in the OJHL (Ontario Junior Hockey League). His time in the OJHL has equipped him with the experience needed to be a leader on his new team. Martino is a player with a strong sense of professionalism, both on and off the ice, which will undoubtedly inspire his teammates. His skill and experience at the junior level will be an asset to the Renegades as they strive for success in the GMHL.
YOUR Renegades leadership team combines a wealth of experience, skill, and professionalism, which are vital qualities for any successful hockey team. The Renegades are poised to have a strong season with these players leading the way, and their fans have every reason to be excited for what the future holds.
On behalf on our owner Joey Gagne, our management and coaching staff, and our fans, YOUR Renegades want to congratulate these young men. We can’t wait to see what this season holds!
